A message from Nikki:

This time of year has always been a period of rebirth for artists and fans alike. We consciously tough out the winter, working through the season on new material that can be released into the wild as the weather warms. Spring is when we’re able to cash in our efforts and the economy starts its new cycle. It marks the beginning of touring and festival season, and ushers in new albums, generating the revenue that we all run out of again by fall.

I know in our music community, we all felt the rugs come out from under our feet when the news of a spreading pandemic closed festivals, theaters, and venues around the world. “Spring is canceled,” they say… Well, to hell with that notion. I personally was very saddened to hear that I wouldn’t be able to play some of the shows and work on projects we had slated for this year. So, I resorted to assuring myself and my team that events like Stagecoach, and the marketplace I host there every year, will be even more impactful with the extra time to plan, and instead focused my efforts on the events that were unfolding.

At first, it was Nashville’s tornado – shaking our community and leaving it with a wake of destruction. Now, the whole country and economy is experiencing the impact of the coronavirus, and in order to do our individual parts, we have to all stay inside and take care of one another by taking care of ourselves.

Now, take all of that into consideration, but imagine what happens when the anticipated Luck Reunion is suddenly halted, and our community's annual celebration of a new spring is postponed until further notice… I had a feeling that they wouldn’t be having any of that.

When I got word that they were putting together an evening of song – I got stoned and called up my good friend Hannah Alpert. She was working overtime as Production Designer to prepare for the Luck event, building its stages and sets – surely she wanted to get on board – Well, the truth is, she was ready for a day off…. but we’re talking about the kind of woman who doesn’t know how to say no to a potential DIY masterpiece. Which brings me to the point of this ramble.

You see we happen to live on a property with a handful of great musicians, so I proposed an idea – we would all wake up early on the day of the show, and make a little show of our own… at a distance.

Luckily, my partner is Jonathan Tyler, and he has a great recording studio just down the hall. So all we had to do was run some extra-long cables, and get to work. We pondered some fun craft ideas – Hannah introduced me to the series At Home with Amy Sedaris – let’s just say we have a long way to go – but after 12 hours the show was going live, and, well… SHIT we weren’t quite done with our edit!

So, if you were tuned in, you had the opportunity to witness me Skyping into a live songwriter series – to push play on our computer screen. Well, mortified as I was, it was the first time I had seen the cut, and I was pretty damn pleased. So, without further adieu – may I please introduce you to our first-ever – From Dawn Till Dusk.
