Leah Blevins: Finding Freedom in Vulnerability, Kentucky Roots, and ‘All Dressed Up’

On this episode of Jrodconcerts: The Podcast, I’m joined by the incredible ‪@LeahBlevinsMusic‬ . Following her national television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show and the release of her stunning sophomore album, All Dressed Up, Leah sits down to discuss the journey of an artist who refuses to be boxed into a single genre.

Produced by Dan Auerbach at Easy Eye Sound, Leah’s new record is a masterclass in "torch-pop country" and soulful Americana. In our conversation, we dive deep into the intentionality behind her music—from the delicate balance of confidence and vulnerability to how her upbringing in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, shaped her resilient spirit.

We explore the philosophical side of the craft: why expectations can be the source of pain, how to counteract ego with contribution, and the "perfect marriage" of finding a creative home that honors your authentic self. Leah also shares the excitement of heading to London this summer to open for Garth Brooks at Hyde Park and the personal dynamics of navigating life married to a fellow touring musician.

This is a conversation about healing, authenticity, and the power of speaking kindly to yourself.

In this episode, we discuss:

The Art of Vulnerability: Finding the balance between being "put together" and being human in songwriting.

Beyond the Box: Why Leah has never identified with a specific genre and how she protects her unique sound.

The Gift of Hardship: Reaching a point where life’s challenges are viewed as blessings and creative fuel.

Kentucky to Nashville: How her family’s history with gospel music and addiction informed her work ethic and perspective.

The Easy Eye Connection: Working with Dan Auerbach and a legendary cast of musicians to bring All Dressed Up to life.

The Global Stage: Preparing for the massive Hyde Park show with Garth Brooks.

The Identity Shift: Asking the vital question: "Who are you now?"
