"Very Old Barton" (Lyrics)

My life is a song my mind's a picture show
You are the real
thing, when you are alone
Drinkin' Very Old Barton with the country radio
Always lonesome, and won't let it go
And if I knew any better, I'd know it's a sin
But some things are just better, without you knowin' them I've said it before, and I'll say it again
Some things are just better without you knowin' them
How can I be happy, how can I Iove today?
Take hold of my own life, and not wish it away?
Keep your loved ones close, don't stay far behind
And remember a good friend is hard to find
And if I knew any better, I'd know it's a sin
But some things are just better, without you knowin' them I've said it before, and I'll say it again
Some things are just better without you knowin' them
Drinkin' Very Old Barton with the country radio
Always lonesome, and too prideful to show
Have another go-round, don't mind if I do
It's just one of those things we all go through
It's just one of those things we all go through

With four critically-acclaimed albums under her belt, Kelsey Waldon has forged a strong presence in the Country and Americana scene. Her uncut lyricism and natural country sensibility recall her upbringing in Monkey's Eyebrow, Kentucky. After moving to Nashville, she cultivated a loyal following through frequent touring across the U.S. and two critically acclaimed albums. Her persistence paid off when, on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, John Prine invited Kelsey to join his Oh Boy Records family. In 2019, Kelsey released White Noise / White Lines on Prine's Oh Boy Records. An unflinching work that details Waldon's life, hopes, and pains, the album earned her a nomination for the Emerging Act of the Year Award at the 2020 Americana Awards.
