When I was just eight years old, I’d take my bike and I’d hit the road
Supper time by the time I’d get back home
My dog Skeeter and a climbing tree
I’d read a book, set my mind free
I was wonder woman in the yard
Dirt under my nails, playing hard, it was a good day, yea that was a good day

You only get so many summers
So many glasses of sweet tea, so many calls home to your mama
Soak it up make a memory
Life’s a short trip around the sun full of love and wonder
Blue skies will fade red
Cause you only get so many summers

Thirty-four got a call from a girlfriend, dropped it all drove to the beach for the weekend
And I didn’t know it then, but it’d be the last time
Drank margaritas til the stars said goodnight, laughed and cried about how time flies
And damn it was hard to say goodbye, but that was a good day, yea that was a good day

You only get so many summers
So many walks in the sand, so many I love you’s
So say ‘em when you can
Life’s a short trip around the sun full of love and wonder
Blue skies will fade red
Cause you get so many summers
So many summers…

That’s what makes em sweet I guess
You only get so many summers
