The Story Behind "Green River Rye"##
“I first discovered Green River Rye whiskey during a hunting trip to Kentucky. The bottle instantly caught my eye—it was the same one I remembered from an antique lithograph that hung in my childhood home. At the time, my girlfriend had just left me, and the chorus melody had already popped into my head.” — Dee White

Recorded as an acoustic trio in Nashville just twenty-four hours after it was written, "Green River Rye" captures a raw, lived-in moment of heartbreak and discovery. Written alongside collaborators Brian Murray and Jimmy Law (Dogs In A Pile), the track showcases the vivid lyricism that defines White as one of country music’s most essential emerging voices.

LYRICS:

INTRO
I gave up the good times
For something that I thought was better
Tried my hand at doin’ right
She came knockin
Wanting in and so I let her
Look where I wound up walking that line
Green River Rye
Won’t you wash her from my mind
How could something so deep and strong just run dry
She’s the only one
That I’ll ever love forever
Now I wanna love em all a little while
TURNAROUND
It didn’t take us long
To sink back down into our old ways
Right where we left em on the shelf
You were always there
Never too far from my reach
I swore I’d sworn you off
But what the hell
Green River Rye
Won’t you wash her from my mind
How could something beautiful become a sorry sight
She’s the only one
That I’ll ever love forever
Now I wanna love em all a little while

Straight from Kentucky
To carry way my blues
When she troubles up my head
I can double down on you
Green River Rye
Won’t you wash her from my mind
How could something so deep and strong just run dry
She’s the only one
That I’ll ever love forever
Now I wanna love em all a little while

Now I’m gonna love em all a little while
