Caroline Spence – Clean Getaway (Official Video)

Caroline Spence’s music video for her new single “Clean Getaway” from her forthcoming album ‘True North’, coming April 29, 2022. Pre-order ‘True North’: https://found.ee/CS_TrueNorth

In the video, we wanted to show the light-hearted part of my experience with my Saturn Return — entering a new phase of adulthood where you can actually make space for your inner child instead of running from them. We used home movies of me as a kid to show this.” Reconnecting with videos of her childhood proved to be a revelatory experience. “I got to see that my interests and personality really haven’t changed much at all. I think I thought I’d be different by the time I hit 30 and the Saturn Return ended, but it left me exactly where I started, with just with more acceptance of who I am deep down.

Lyrics:
There’s no way out, gotta turn myself in
You can’t run and hide from Saturn returning
And it’s all happening now, my chickens have come home to roost
But it turns out I’ve been tracking mud on my boots

But I thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway
Thought that I could be, thought that I could be someone else some day
Thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway
But you don’t get to get away from this

Turns out time doesn’t pass, just to ease your pain
Yeah, and growing up is learning how to walk on through the rain
And most days it’s hard just to be yourself
But it’s impossible to be anybody else

But I thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway
Thought that I could be, thought that I could be someone else some day
Thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway
But you don’t get to get away from this

Yeah, you gotta face yourself in the mirror
Gotta recognize something unclear
Gotta know what it is that you fear
And chase it down

I thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway
But there’s no such thing, no such thing anyway
I thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway
But you don’t get to get away from this

(Thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway)
(Thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway)

There’s no way out

(Thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway)
(Thought I made a clean, thought I made a clean getaway)
