Erin Enderlin – I Wrote This Song For You (live at The Station Inn)

I wrote this song with the fabulous Larry Cordle – if you love bluegrass music and great country storytelling, I know you love him too. Larry brought this idea in years ago at a write and it found it's way to Willie Nelson who recorded it for his album, The Border. I'll never get over the moment Larry called me to tell me Willie had cut it – On The Road Again was the first song I ever learned to play, and I can't tell you what it means to me to hear him sing something I wrote.

Lyric:
I wrote this song for you, I poured out my soul
I hope you hear it on some lonely late night radio
I hope it makes you smile, when I’m not there to hold onto
That’s the reason why I wrote this song for you

I worked out the melody on my old guitar
And I finally found the words at the bottom of my heart
I know that it’s not much, but you know it’s what I do
The music speaks for me so I wrote this song for you

You never asked me once to give up on my dream
I know it’s a sacrifice to love someone like me
I really don’t know how you do it but you do
That’s why I sat down and I wrote this song for you

I worked out this melody on my old guitar
Then I finally found the words at the bottom of my heart
I know that that’s not much, but you know it’s what I do
The music speaks for me so I wrote this song for you
The music speaks for me so I wrote this song for you
