History Repeats Itself (LYRICS)
I went to school on the rural route
With my brother the same age as me
Couldn't tell us apart to save yourself

Except the devil in my eyes and who I came to be
Could have been someone like my brother did
Like the promise of a new morning sun
But tell me what else is a poor, boy to do
Except to sell so he can live and die by the gun

Worn out like an old pair of denim, I'm faded
Politicians pushin' pills wanna keep me sedated
Keep the poor in prison and interrogated
Don't history repeat itself? Find your faith in somewhere's else
Gotta get out before I kill myself

Now I'm wanted in two or three counties
For everything that I have done
The law finally found me to take me, away
There was nothing left, to do but run

Worn out like an old pair of denim, I'm faded
Politicians pushin' pills wanna keep me, sedated
Keep the poor in prison and interrogated
Don't history repeat itself? Find your faith in somewhere's else
Gotta get out before I kill myself
Gotta get out before I kill myself

With four critically-acclaimed albums under her belt, Kelsey Waldon has forged a strong presence in the Country and Americana scene. Her uncut lyricism and natural country sensibility recall her upbringing in Monkey's Eyebrow, Kentucky. After moving to Nashville, she cultivated a loyal following through frequent touring across the U.S. and two critically acclaimed albums. Her persistence paid off when, on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, John Prine invited Kelsey to join his Oh Boy Records family. In 2019, Kelsey released White Noise / White Lines on Prine's Oh Boy Records. An unflinching work that details Waldon's life, hopes, and pains, the album earned her a nomination for the Emerging Act of the Year Award at the 2020 Americana Awards. Kelsey has recently completed her next album No Regular Dog for Oh Boy Records and fans anxiously await her next project.
